Year 6 found out about French Easter traditions and how the French celebrate Easter. They learnt some Easter vocabulary which they then used to complete a crossword puzzle.
Year 6, have started a new topic all about What’s in the news. They looked at excerpts of French newspapers and identified the different news sections.they practised pronouncing the new vocabulary and played a variety of games to remember and identify the different sections.
As the children will be visiting London tomorrow for their residential, they looked at maps of London. They drew a map, highlighting the human features they will be visiting. Then, they used the scale of the map to calculate the distance between certain places. Have a great time away.
Today we looked at the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim must make at least once in his or her lifetime. The hajj is the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices and institutions known as the Five Pillars of Islam. At Mecca, the pilgrims are obliged to perform several rituals, including walking seven times around the Kaʿbah shrine. About two million persons perform the hajj each year. We used a net to make our very own Ka'bah's out of paper.
