Computing - Lesson 2: Copyright

Today in Year 6 we discussed what is meant by Copyright and Fair Use, and how these would apply to us when building our websites. We found out how to find non-copyrighted images to use in our sites, as well as the importance of crediting work. Finally we continued our sites, adding images to new pages from a copyright free library.

As the week draws to a close, year 6 have been concluding their unit on place value by studying negative numbers and rounding. We spoke about how we encounter negative numbers in every day life (temperature, finances etc). This week's mathematical word of the week was integer; please ask your children what it means and for them to give some examples.

Assessment

 This week, the children completed their assessment question, How are natural disasters caused and what effect do they have? I was really proud of every year 6 child as they were able to recall the facts and share their knowledge.  During the second part of the lesson, the children were introduced to 6 grid references. They did a great job in their first lesson.
