Bowling bananza

Image
The children who did not go on the residential, visited LA Bowl today. There was lots of excitement, fun and competition. How can there be so many different techniques to bowling?  A great morning out year 6 as well as being ambassadors for the school.

Mapping London

Image
As the children will be visiting London tomorrow for their residential, they looked at maps of London. They drew a map, highlighting the human features they will be visiting. Then, they used the scale of the map to calculate the distance between certain places.  Have a great time away.

French: designing a French theme park

Image
Year 6 planned and designed their own theme park. They chose the theme for their parks and 5 rides that they’d like to include. They also included opening and closing times and prices for entry into their parks. They were required to write down the minimum heights and ages for each of their chosen rides.

Y6 DT Lighthouse

Image
Y6 have been designing their lighthouses on CANVA and thinking about what materials they will need. After half term we will begin to make our lighthouses, the children will then be able to take them home.

Y6 DT Lighthouse

In Y6 we have been learning about the history of lighthouses on the island and where they are located. We learnt about their purpose and how their design has changed over time. We then used our scientific knowledge to create circuits that we could install into our model lighthouses, which we will be building next term. The children designed their own lighthouse and began to decide what materials would be suitable to make them out of. Please save your pringle pots!

3D contour maps

Image
Last week, the children were introduced to contour lines, which are used to show the height of a mountain.    Today, the children made 3D contour maps of different mountains so they could physically see how contour lines clearly show the height ( relief) of a mountain.
