RE Festival Workshop- Hajjj

Today we looked at the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim must make at least once in his or her lifetime. The hajj is the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices and institutions known as the Five Pillars of Islam. At Mecca, the pilgrims are obliged to perform several rituals, including walking seven times around the Kaʿbah shrine. About two million persons perform the hajj each year. We used a net to make our very own Ka'bah's out of paper.

Y6 DT Lighthouse

In Y6 we have been learning about the history of lighthouses on the island and where they are located. We learnt about their purpose and how their design has changed over time. We then used our scientific knowledge to create circuits that we could install into our model lighthouses, which we will be building next term. The children designed their own lighthouse and began to decide what materials would be suitable to make them out of. Please save your pringle pots!
